Position Summary
The Student Assistant will assist the Office of Financial Assistance with the efficient daily operations of the department. The Student Assistant reports to the Assistant Director of Financial Assistance.
This position is funded by the Federal Work-Study program and is open to UIW students who are approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study Program. Note that students can work a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Essential Functions
- Support a friendly, student-oriented environment.
- Answer incoming phone calls/emails.
- Assist with information sessions if needed.
- Provide coverage during office meetings (approx. time 1 hour).
- Process deliveries from daily mail runs (open and date stamp).
- Provide support during Freshman Orientation in the summer.
- Assist advisors with tasks.
- Scan and file documents.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of office skills (organizational skills, alphabetizing, filing, telephone, proper etiquette).
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and efficiently.
- Knowledge of resources and services provided to students and alumni.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Current UIW student and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study program.

Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with customer service in customer service.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
None.
Work Hours
- The Office of Financial Assistance is generally open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm;
- Must be able to schedule work shift for a minimum of 2 hours within standard business hours.
Physical Demands
Ability to reach, squat, stoop and lift at least 10 lbs to organize and transport large quantities of documents and equipment.
