What are the responsibilities and job description for the Space Planner position at University of the Pacific?
Primary Purpose:
Responsible for supporting Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost-effective, efficient, reliable, and sustainable space in support of the University's mission. This position provides digitizing and database maintenance to fill customer requests for space solutions, reporting to Managed Services, and working closely with Construction Management, Real Estate & Space management to create new and supplemental reporting models and aids in the development of tools to support strategic space planning.
Essential Functions:
Analyze space data using various data analysis methodology, utilize database tools to determine data quality, completeness and reliability of measurement values.
Develop and maintain standard space reports and reporting services to support efficient data request needs for frequently needed data sets.
Identify and analyze data and trends to determine areas of opportunity for space utilization and space performance improvement, operational efficiency, and inventory improvements.
Integrate drawings, maps, and other information compatible with the existing University information base including current releases, drafting, mapping, graphics software, and digitizing and maintaining information related to space planning.
Collect new and corrected drawings and integrate them into a database.
Consult with Supervisors regarding relational data systems changes necessary to maintain and develop the Space Management System, as well as manage the space planning assignments, as well as produce the appropriate reports.
Ensure ongoing data transfer and integration between University enterprise business systems.
Maintain space inventory data.
Create and maintain floor plans using various software tools.
Ensure the accuracy of drawings provided by consultants through field measurements and construction project documentation review phases.
Inform customers on space planning solutions.
Update and manage AutoCAD system.
Provide information regarding integrating space and other enterprise information.
Ability to manage Facilities Inventory and classification manual (FICM) standards for space inventory coding.
Ability to manage Autodesk Revit or other Building information modeling tools.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma.
Two (2) years of work experience in space planning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates Degree with six (6) years of professional experience utilizing AutoCAD and analyzing, developing, integrating, and managing a variety of large-scale data sets to aid in space planning and management decisions.
Bachelors Degree in engineering, architecture, computer science, or computer-aided drafting, space planning and design with significant coursework in computer-aided drafting and design, or planning.
Two (2) years of professional experience utilizing AutoCAD, as well as analyzing, developing, integrating, and managing a variety of large-scale data sets to aid in space planning and management decisions.
Software knowledge of FAMIS and EMS.
Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
