Position Overview
Primary Function :
University Child Care Center (UCCC) is a licensed early childhood center that provides care for children ages 6 weeks through 5 years old. We are seeking a teacher that will provide a nurturing and respectful environment for all children in alignment with the center's philosophy, and that is willing to commit to continued personal growth and professional development.
This position receives direct supervision in which assignments and instructions are clearly and regularly explained. Completed assignments are routinely reviewed by the supervisor for correctness.

Position Description
Typical Duties & Responsibilities :
Foster the development of independence, concentration, and self-confidence through the planning and implementation of activities concerning children of varying backgrounds, cultures, and developmental abilities
Have working knowledge of (or be willing to learn about) child development, the Tennessee Early Learning Developmental Standards, and the Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) Licensing Guidelines
Maintain supportive and consistent contact with families
Participate in professional development and family engagement activities at least twice per month
Maintain and complete required DHS training and certifications
Judgement Required :
Prescribed, established procedures are primarily used to perform the essential functions of this position.

External : Daily contact with parents, discussing progress / problems of children
Attributes of a Successful Candidate
Education :
CDA, Associate or Bachelors in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
Experience :

Must be patient, nurturing, flexible, and dedicated; be willing to take responsibility and initiative; able to see the individuality and strengths in every child
Commit to continuous learning and growth as a professional
Must be comfortable using or willing to learn how to use Google Workspace - email, docs, etc. and navigation of online learning platforms
Licenses / Certification :
12 hours of online training annually required by the state
First Aid / CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
