Job Description:
The Department of Communication and Media at the University of Toledo invites applications for an Assistant Lecturer position specializing in media production to begin in August 2025. We are seeking a dynamic teacher-practitioner to join our growing team and contribute to a curriculum that blends creative practice with technical proficiency, preparing students for careers in today’s rapidly evolving media environment. The ideal candidate will teach a range of courses including TV studio production, single-camera video production, video editing, multimedia journalism in all its forms, and photojournalism. This position emphasizes hands-on instruction that bridges traditional and emerging forms of storytelling across platforms. Our department is home to a full TV studio, podcasting labs, a campus radio station, and a robust ESPN production partnership, giving students access to professional-level tools and live production opportunities. We are particularly interested in candidates who can help us shape and evolve the media production curriculum—bringing vision, adaptability, and a forward-thinking mindset to ensure our program remains responsive to industry shifts and future-oriented in design. Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a Master's degree in Communication or a closely related field, or (2) a Bachelor's degree in Communication (or related field) along with at least five years of professional experience in media production, multimedia journalism, or a related industry.
