Job Summary

The clinical ethics fellow will be an integral part of the clinical ethics team at University of Utah Health. The Fellowship in Clinical Ethics will focus on building background knowledge and skill development in: clinical ethics consultation, bioethical research, and teaching across the medical enterprise. For ethics consultations, over the course of training, the fellow will gain progress responsibility in ethics consultation, ultimately independently performing high quality ethics consultations. The fellow will conduct clinical investigation, research and related activities dealing with the understanding of human diseases and the improvement of human health in relation to bioethics. The fellow will develop a knowledge base of key bioethical issues and develop an independent research project, ultimately preparing manuscripts for publication. Finally, the fellow will gain competence and skill in teaching to support the Center for Health Ethics, Arts, and Humanities (CHeEtAH) education initiatives throughout the clinical enterprise.

The candidate must hold an MD or PhD in Medicine, with demonstrated interest in bioethics. Previous clinical experience preferred.

One position is available for the Clinical Ethics Fellowship, on a competitive basis, for the July 2025 start date.
