Job Summary

This postdoctoral fellow will join the University of Utah’s Technology in Training, Education, and Consultation (U- TTEC ) Lab ( https://www.u-tteclab.com ) in the Department of Educational Psychology to provide direct mental health and behavioral services in schools, support training, technical assistance, and research related to school mental and behavior health programs. The fellow will work closely with interdisciplinary mental health teams at the University level (including school psychologists, counseling psychologists, psychiatrists, school counselors, behavior analysts), school leadership teams, community mental health providers, and State personnel for school mental health.

Additional responsibilities include providing local support for related mental health programs and projects carried out through the lab. These include but are not limited to: supervising undergraduate and graduate students, collaborating with teachers, school staff, and school administrators, implementing behavior and mental health programming, performing research activities, teaching, grant writing, and disseminating aspects of the projects. This is a one-year funded position with the possibility of renewal for an additional year contingent on the availability of funding.

Responsibilities

Clinical Service:

  • Collaborate with school administrators and mental health teams across schools
  • Delivery of professional development programming and capacity building to support school teams in the development of behavioral and mental health frameworks
  • Support and participate in monthly team meetings with mental health teams to provide and facilitate collaborations with community providers, generate capacity building for school mental health teams and staff, and assist in the alignment of mental health services within school and between community and family
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Research Services:

  • Develop and implement research studies in school psychology, focusing on mental and behavioral health, social-emotional learning, and educational systems.
  • Oversee data collection, conducting advanced statistical analyses, and contributing to grant writing efforts to secure external funding.
  • Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications, conferences, and reports for non-academic audiences like policymakers and educators.

Mentorship and Collaboration :

  • Engage in collaborative research with faculty, graduate students, and community partners.
  • Mentor and supervise graduate students or research assistants involved in ongoing projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in School Psychology, Clinical Child Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or Behavior Analysis
  • Clinical or Applied Experience : Practical experience in school psychology settings (e.g., working in schools, assessment, intervention).
  • Quantitative and/or Qualitative Skills : Strong skills in research methodologies and data analysis techniques (e.g., statistical software proficiency in SPSS , R, or qualitative analysis software) to manage data sets
  • Professional Competencies : Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and solid organizational skills for managing research projects.
  • Specialized Knowledge : Knowledge of topics related to behavioral health interventions, MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support), or school-based mental health services.

Preferences

  • Experience with supervision, intervention development and implementation, or program dissemination.
  • Board Certification in Behavior Analysis ( BCBA )
