POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for performing therapeutic menu choices with patients, nutrition screening, assessments (if RD), developing and implementing nutrition care plans, providing nutrition education to patients, patients’ families. Provide training to new hires, students, and opportunities to educate fellow employees.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE

• Successful completion of a Commission on Dietetic Registration approved Dietetic Technician Program and subsequent CDR registration, or successful completion of a bachelors of science degree in dietetics with at least 10 continuing education hours per year and others as determined necessary by the department director and/or senior dietitian.

• For Clinical Dietitian: Active status as a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, VT Certification preferred.

• Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development, aging and geriatric care, pregnancy and lactation, and patient education and counseling. Dietitians should be competent in the practice of nutrition support.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of one-year experience as a diet technician or registered dietitian in an acute health care facility preferred.
