    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Finance Manager has principal responsibility to plan, supervise, administer, and direct the activity of the finance staff and implement systems and processes for collecting, verifying, and processing financial reports, budgets and projections, in an accurate and timely manner. Responsible for assisting in the organization’s budget and long-range financial plans, department reporting, annual tax filings and other analyses as directed.


    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the preparation of various reporting packages on a regular and ad hoc basis for internal purposes including analysis of monthly financial statements and budget variances.
  • Provides information to management by crafting and summarizing data, preparing reports, making presentations of findings, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Participate in development of budget and manage import to Adaptive.
  • Participate in the annual tax filings and coordinate and review schedules to support the filings.
  • Participate in strategic UW Medicine initiatives such as the UW Medicine FT project.
  • Monitor and assist in implementation of the financial impacts related to the EPIC-Workday integration.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal/external clients to assist with management reporting and support ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Work with management to oversee the portfolio of investments and support cash projections and forecasting.
  • Interface with business leaders to understand the fast-changing business needs and planning risk effectively to ensure effective capacity to demands.
  • Communicate and engage across teams and entities to support the identification of opportunities for automation enhancements and processes to improve efficiency.
  • Evaluate current financial operations and offer recommendations for process improvements.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of financial process documents and policies and procedures.
  • Interview, hire, and train new employees, monitor employee performance, initiate disciplinary action, terminate employees as appropriate, write and conduct employee performance evaluations, organize and participate in team meetings and coordinate coverage for open positions.
  • Assist Director of UWP Accounting & Financial Reporting in department planning and decision making.



    REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of progressively complex and comprehensive • financial accounting experience with strong background in analyzing and preparing financial reports and 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling and manipulating large data sets.
  • Proven track record of analyzing data, synthesizing results and presenting complex information with recommendations in a digestible manner.
  • Intellectually curious with a passion for digging into the details.
  • Ability to quickly develop relationships and partnerships at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in an academic healthcare environment preferred.
