Position Summary

The Department of Recreation Management and Therapy at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure track position for an Assistant Professor in Outdoor, Recreation, Tourism and Event Management.Position will be responsible for teaching introductory and upper division Outdoor, Recreation, Tourism and Event Management core and emphasis courses (undergraduate and graduate), preferably teaching in the following areas : Tourism and Event Management; Experience Design and Promotion; Commercial Recreation; Revenue Management; Research Methods; or additional area of interest. Position will also be responsible for conducting scholarly activity such as research and grant writing and advising undergraduate research and graduate capstones / theses as well as providing relevant professional and university service.Our department values diversity, collegiality, and collaboration. Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in tourism, leisure, recreation, or a related field; ABD will be considered but must be earned by the the time of the first personnel review Spring 2026.
  • Must have at least one degree in tourism, leisure, recreation, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant professional experience in tourism, hospitality, event management, recreation management, or related professions
  • Demonstrated post-secondary teaching experience including evidence of commitment to creating diverse and inclusive learning experiences
  • Demonstrate evidence of scholarship with a focused research plan and active membership in related professional associations
