What are the responsibilities and job description for the Biomarker Scientist position at University of Wisconsin–Madison?
Job Summary:
The Wisconsin Registry for Alzheimer's Prevention (WRAP), together with the Biomarker Labs of Dr. Sterling Johnson, Dr. Hartmuth Kolb and Dr. Henrik Zetterberg linked to WRAP and the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) and ADRC Consortium for Clarity in ADRD Research Through Imaging (CLARiTI), is seeking a quantitative scientist to join our team.
As imaging and blood-based biomarkers for Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and related disorders (ADRD) continue to rapidly evolve, there is a need to determine when the proteinopathies become detectable in the brain relative to age and risk factors, how they relate to established imaging or fluid markers, how they perform in diverse ethnoracial and socioeconomic communities, and how they can inform on multi-etiology causes of impairment. Further, there is great need to determine how imaging and blood markers may be best applied in several use contexts including screening into prevention and observational trials, and community clinical settings, and as outcomes in treatment and prevention trials.
The candidate will lead and manage a team of data-oriented scientists and staff that support the data workflows and data analyses of the WRAP study and major initiatives of the linked Biomarker labs. The candidate will oversee the data sharing of the WRAP study data with external requesters, and the data analysis workflows including guiding teams that write up the data for publication. The data collected by this team and the initiatives the team addresses are of central importance to our field and the quality and caliber of the output from this team will be visible nationally.
