The BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine invites applications for a Scientist position. This position will support the research program of Andrea Gilmore-Bykovskyi, PhD, RN, a leader in dementia care research and Associate Professor in the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. The person in this position will serve as a Scientist supporting the breadth of the work in the Gilmore-Bykovskyi lab.
Dr. Gilmore-Bykovskyi's research laboratory is an applied clinical and health services research lab focused on advancing research to improve care for those affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). This portfolio of research incorporates observational, mixed-methods, interventional, and qualitative research approaches with major lines of funded research focused on establishing dementia care research infrastructure, advancing measurement of transient recovery of function/lucidity in advanced dementia, and designing measures and approaches to enhancing dementia specific care experiences. The laboratory is looking for an energetic, mission-driven, PhD-level (or equivalent) scientist to join our team. This individual will work closely with faculty across UW and other institutions who have expertise in domains including emergency medicine, geriatrics, statistics, engineering, informatics, nursing, and epidemiology.
This individual will also support Dr. Gilmore-Bykovskyi's involvement as Co-Investigator on collaborative research initiatives.
Responsibilities will include identifying research problems, designing research studies, writing study protocols, performing and supervising research/research teams, interpreting research results, presenting results at professional meetings, and submitting scholarly publications. Additionally, the Scientist will identify and secure research funding in conjunction with the Principal Investigator and the rest of the team. The Scientist may also supervise other research staff.

The applicant must have a PhD or equivalent terminal degree, preferably in nursing, health services research, public health, or health policy, or other similarly related field.
Qualifications:-The applicant must have 2 years (Scientist II)/ 4 years (Scientist III) of experience in epidemiology, health services, or related research field. This must include experience developing and implementing clinical and/or health services research protocols, including research quality assurance and Institutional Review Board applications.
-The applicant must have experience communicating with a variety of audiences, collaborators and partners and academic fields.
-The applicant must have experience with funding, research administration, and compliance.
-Prior experience with populations with dementia is preferred but not required.
Full or Part Time: 50% - 100%
This position will require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:Minimum $61,388 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The starting salary for the Scientist II position is $61,388 and $74,067 for the Scientist III position but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
