Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

Veterinary Technician I (AN002)
Veterinary Technician II (AN003)
Veterinary Technician III (AN004)

Tasks:

  • Preparing and assisting with eye examinations and procedures
  • Performing and assisting with diagnostic tests such as fluorescein staining, tonometry, Schirmer tear test, etc.
  • Administering medications under DVM oversight
  • Preparing and assisting in Ophthalmology surgeries which includes operating room set up, providing assistance to DVMs during surgery, operating room clean up, etc.
  • Provide accurate client education for post-operative procedures and appointments
  • Provide knowledge about treatment options, prescription information, and cost details to clients
  • Documenting accurate results and progress in patient's medical record
  • Troubleshoot specialized equipment as needed to meet department needs
  • Triage calls and emails from clients regarding their pet's health
  • Monitoring inventory for department to ensure department needs are met

Education:

Required
H.S. Diploma

Qualifications:

Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks.

To qualify for Level 1: Entry level, new CVT grad or minimal CVT working experience with no specialization.

To qualify for Level 2: Generally over 3 years of veterinary tech experience, may substitute years of experience for specialization.

To qualify for Level 3: Veterinary Tech Specialist (VTS), or highly qualified and specialized in a specific area, may have prior experience from another university hospital.

License/Certification:

Required
CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday flexible depending on department needs and staff availability

Variable holiday and on-call shifts as required by the hospital.

Work Type:

Part Time: 40% - 50%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $20.00 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications

This position is being posted at Vet Tech levels 1, 2 and 3. Level and pay are commensurate with experience.
