What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Surgical ICU position at University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation?
Work Schedule : 100% FTE, three 12 hour shifts Tuesday - Thursday from 6 : 00 am - 6 : 00 pm, and one 8 hour shift every other Saturday from 7 : 00 am - 3 : 00 pm. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department. As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our inpatient care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to :
- Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients in a Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide consistent high-quality care to our patients.
- Participate in daily rounding and collaborate with attending physician and residents in order to adjust plans of care.
- Perform procedures such as : suture removal and drain removal. At UW Health, you will have :

Education : Minimum - If Nurse Practitioner : Master's or Doctorate's degree from accredited Nursing Program. If Physician Assistant : Bachelor's or Master's degree from accredited PA Program. Licenses and Certifications : Minimum - If Nurse Practitioner : Active RN and APNP license in State of Wisconsin ANDactive board certification as a NP in Adult; Adult / Gerontology Acute Care; Adult / Gerontology Primary Care. (Adult or Adult / Gerontology Primary Care will be considered only if previous ICU experience) If Physician Assistant : Active PA license in State of Wisconsin ANDactive PA board certification. All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have : Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire ANDCPR certification and advanced life support certifications if relevant to practice area : ACLS.
