JOB DETAILS

We are looking for a dedicated team member to join the University of Wisconsin-Stout, committed to ensuring all students have equal access to our programs, services, and activities. In this role, you will be responsible for recommending and facilitating reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities, ensuring they can fully participate in the physical, educational, and social aspects of university life.

Qualifications

Minimum / Required

  • Bachelor's Degree by employment start date
  • At least three years of professional work experience supporting people with disabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Disability Services, School Psychology, Counseling, Special Education, or related academic degree
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Knowledge of disability law as it pertains to students with disabilities in higher education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of assistive technology
  • Experience coordinating academic accommodations for people with disabilities
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing an inclusive environment for college students with disabilities

Responsibilities

  • Work with students with disabilities to identify barriers in the learning and living environments to determine access solutions.
  • Coordinate means of access as identified through student's approved accommodations.
  • Coordinate with students, faculty, staff, and campus community members to create inclusive learning environments in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote inclusion and universal design, maintaining cooperative working relationships on campus and in the community.
  • Promote and facilitate inclusion and universal design through presentations, education, advocacy, and developing creative solutions for equal access when students experience barriers in university programs and services.
  • Maintain student records, document communications and the recommended course of action while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Refer students to campus and community resources.
  • Maintain the Disability Services website. Update as necessary and verifying accessibility compliance.
  • Point of contact for troubleshooting case management/office management software programs (examples: AIM, etc.).
  • Work with campus entities, publishers, and external vendors to acquire and/or create accessible textbooks.
  • Assist with the coordination of assistive technology accommodations including smart pens, note-taking apps, FM systems, etc.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to create accessible course documents.
  • Help to ensure the overall success of the office of disability services by completing projects and performing duties as assigned by the Director of Disability Services.

Additional Information

The minimum starting salary is $48,500 commensurate with finalist's qualifications, experience, and department budget. A six-month probationary period is required.
