JOB TITLE:
Outdoor Program Climbing Wall Assistant
JOB PURPOSE:
About the Outdoor Program: As part of the Campus Recreation Department, the Outdoor Program helps recruit and retain students, faculty and staff by providing a wide range of inclusive, safe, reasonably priced, and accessible outdoor programs and services to the UW community. We expose and guide individuals in the natural environment, provide skill and leadership development opportunities, and facilitate peer to peer interactions and fun.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Perform regular equipment inspection including ropes, harnesses, and anchors
o Regularly conduct both top rope and lead climbing safety checks with patrons
o Supervise the climbing area for safety including bouldering and rope climbing; be willing to step in when there is an issue
o Maintain a clean and tidy space through regular cleaning • Be able and assured to work at heights safely
o After OP staff trainings, be capable of demonstrating proper belay technique, lead technique, and climbing rescues
o Participate in staff meetings and trainings

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
University of Wyoming student. Previous rope climbing experience.
Start Fall 2025 Semester
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a willingness and excitement to learn climbing wall related skills. Experience with route setting is a plus.
