Instructional Designer
JOB PURPOSE :
The Instructional Designer is part of the Instructional Design team in the Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning, an agile instructional design team led by the Associate Director of Online and Digital Learning (ODL). This position will be crucial in developing and delivering high-quality, innovative, and effective online courses. You will use your instructional design expertise to ensure the team's success in meeting organizational goals and producing exceptional training content. This role requires a deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
85% Instructional Design and Course Development :
- In collaboration with faculty : develop, test, and maintain courses primarily in online and hybrid delivery modes, including attention to issues such as content sequencing, the flow of information, UDL, and the relevancy of media and other technologies.
- In collaboration with faculty; design, develop and implement electronic instructional materials (e.g., animations, interactive elements, simulations, video, data analytics, etc.) using appropriate content authoring and management tools (e.g., Adobe Suite, Camtasia Studio, Zoom, HTML5, Canvas, Cidi Labs Design Tools, etc.).
- Design and implement modern instructional design and engaging user experiences while incorporating ADA Section 508 guidelines.
- Develop, manage, and adhere to course development schedules while communicating effectively with stakeholders and colleagues.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment within the Instructional Design Team.
15% Training, Research, and Other Duties :
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY :
We encourage hybrid work for this position, but this position is eligible for remote work and / or a flexible work schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Bachelor's degree, preferably with an educational focus. An equivalency of education and experience may be considered.
Experience : 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. At least one year of experience using multimedia training software.
