Fast Paced Pediatric Gastroenterology office is currently looking for a full-time Precertification Coordinator.
RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
- Scheduling of GI procedures, GI testing, and radiology testing.
- Precertification of procedures as determined by insurance
- Scheduling radiology procedures with central scheduling department
- Scheduling procedures with OR scheduling department
- Knowledge of specific insurance requirements
- Complete information in the computer under the appropriate physician’s schedule
- Assembles appropriate facility procedure packet and consent.
- Instructs patient on preparation for procedure
- Supplies patient with teaching materials and brochure
- Completing tasks timely, completely and correctly
- Documents all information completely and thoroughly in patient’s chart
- This position requires the employee to make every effort to remain a flexible, cooperative and supportive member of the staff; act as a liaison between the provider and the patient; and maintain friendly open lines of communication between the office and the outpatient/inpatient centers.
- Performs all duties in an independent manner with minimal direction and supervision
- Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed, although not directly assigned
DUTIES AND TASKS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Keeps all patient information, practice information and staff information confidential
- Performs routine work under general supervision
- Follows established procedures, referring all new or unusual questions/concerns
- Acts as patient advocate, ensuring a setting that protects the rights of the patient and provides an atmosphere that does not compromise the patient’s physical or mental well-being, safety or dignity
- Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, established policies and procedures

Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years previous office experience including scheduling and precerting in an EHR s
- Good reading comprehension and ability to clearly communicate with patients and other facilities
- Able to deal compassionately, professionally, and courteously with patients, their families, physicians and fellow staff
