The Department of Aerospace Engineering in The Grainger College of Engineering seeks applicants for a Research Scientist position to conduct research in sustainable aviation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and conduct ground test (e.g., wind tunnel) and/or flight test experiments in aerodynamics and fundamental fluid sciences.
- Perform design studies and theoretical analysis of sustainable aircraft configurations, including subsystem design and system integration, life cycle technoeconomic impacts, and future viability assessments of future air vehicle concepts.
- Prepare conference and peer-reviewed publication manuscripts, participate in other dissemination activities, and assist with proposal ideation and development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.- Minimum 1 year of postdoctoral research experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of postdoctoral research experience.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
This is a full-time academic professional position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. Applicants may be interviewed before the closing date; however, no hiring decision will be made until after that date. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Employees hired into this position will be expected to work onsite on a full-time basis. In accordance with applicable University policies, Aerospace Engineering is excited to provide a one-time sign-on incentive of 5% of the salary offer for this position.
