The Collections Specialist is responsible for adhering to processes and procedures in collecting both current and past due accounts receivable. This visible role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day collections efforts, partnering with the operations team to ensure timely collections, as well as driving best-in-class improvements in process and analytical capabilities. This will require a side-by-side partnership with Business Unit Leadership and the Sales Teams’, and within the Finance and Accounting groups, for operational success and generation of liquidity within dedicated UPG portfolio companies. The position reports to a Collections Manager and/or Treasurer.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Update and analyze daily/weekly Accounts Receivable Trends report
- Update and analyze Relevant (>$50K) Past Due Account Detail to manage workload on weekly basis
- Actively participate in weekly meetings with Treasurer, other Collections Specialists and Managers and Business Unit Leadership
- Communicate with key customers weekly, daily if needed, to establish plans to get receivables paid off quickly
- Develop standardized reports utilizing Tableau to facilitate workload
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related quantitative discipline required
- 5 years of Financial Analysis or related experience
- Strong work ethic geared toward enacting change and a “whatever it takes” mentality, understanding there is meaningful opportunity to have an impact on the business
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
- An analytical mind
- Superior verbal communication skills
- Experience with Tableau and other data visualization tools is a plus
