About Uplinq


We are an Arizona-based startup building software to automate bookkeeping and tax for small businesses. This wasn’t always our plan. When we started Uplinq, we wanted to help small businesses use their financial data to make timely business decisions, survive loan due diligence, and work with acquirers/investors. We tried solving these challenges directly to no avail and quickly realized they are all symptoms of a bigger problem: bookkeeping is hard, and SMBs hate doing it.


Since then we’ve been hard at work developing accounting technology for small businesses that is high-quality, real-time, and affordable. Our customers are dentists, restaurant owners, insurance agents, realtors - real people from all walks of life. Some tried to manage their books in QBO themselves and couldn’t keep up. Some paid a CPA firm too much for bookkeeping that only gets updated once a quarter. Some switched from companies like Bench and Pilot looking for better service.


We are a tight-knit team including CPAs, engineers, tax preparers, product designers, and marketers. We support each other, communicate openly, have fun at work, and all believe in Uplinq’s mission to help real people run their businesses better.

The Tax Onboarding Specialist position is perfect for someone looking to develop as a professional in the FinTech space. The Tax Onboarding Specialist will be responsible for client onboarding, collecting necessary documents, client follow up, internal workflow, and preparing and reviewing a variety of complex tax returns for individuals and businesses. This position requires knowledge of tax laws and regulations, excellent communication skills, strong excel skills, and a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. Our Ideal Candidate

  • Has SMB tax preparation experience, working with a variety of small businesses to prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates.
  • Possesses robust problem-solving skills, capable of handling complex workflows and projects efficiently.
  • Engages effectively with high-value clients to optimize their account setups and enhance their overall experience with Uplinq’s services.
  • Leads and supports a team in tax tasks, leveraging Uplinq’s technology solution and system to ensure consistency and accuracy in research, document storage, communication, and tax products. 
  • Is skilled in onboarding companies to a ready state for tax preparation, ensuring a seamless handoff to Tax Operations team.
  • Excels in communication, able to clearly convey and explain intricate tax and accounting data to clients as needed.
  • Has 3 years in tax preparation, with a preference for those with multi-client experience.
  • Has expertise in reviewing financial statements and tax filings.
  • Is eager to drive continuous improvement in Uplinq’s automated bookkeeping and tax systems and contribute to our business intelligence solutions.
  • Is proficient with Windows operating system and can adopt new software set up and use without difficulty.
  • Possesses an active EA or CPA certification is required.
  • Preferably has a Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related fields.
  • Must have QBO and Drake experience.

Here are some examples of projects that you could own in this role:

  • Bridge the gap from Bookkeeping, Tax and Onboarding teams to ensure more seamless workflows.
  • Make final changes to financials to send on to Tax team. This involves applying your critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to analyze and rectify any tax and bookkeeping issues. This includes identifying discrepancies, devising a comprehensive action plan to address these issues, and either executing the plan yourself or overseeing its implementation to ensure accurate and efficient outcomes.
  • Assist in training Bookkeeping team of standard policy changes needed and implement the same for better tax financials.
  • Design and implement comprehensive chart of account setups for new clients, ensuring seamless integration with Tax.
  • Lead troubleshooting initiatives, enhancing functionality and user experience.
