\nIn this role, there is the opportunity to -
\n- \n
- Receive, sort, prepare, and deliver specimens for analysis in a timely manner. \n
- Demonstrate a service-oriented approach by maintaining courtesy, respect, and enthusiasm in work situations. \n
- Perform routine and basic instrument maintenance following established protocols. \n
- Assist with restocking supplies and maintaining optimal inventory levels. \n
- Prepare and replenish instrument reagents and consumables as needed. \n
- Execute QA/QC procedures as assigned to ensure specimen integrity. \n
- Assist with specimen/slide storage and retrieval as necessary. \n
- Decontaminate work areas and ensure a clean, organized working environment. \n
- Transport specimens off-site and deliver supplies to designated locations. \n
- Answer phone inquiries, investigate specimen status, and direct callers to appropriate resources. \n
Required
\n- \n
- High School diploma or equivalent, and at least 2yrs experience as a Specimen Processor (or equivalent) required in a clinical lab, OR \n
- Associate degree (with biology and chemistry courses) and at least 1yr of experience as a Specimen Processor (or equivalent) in a clinical lab, OR \n
- Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification and 1yr of experience as a Specimen Processor (or equivalent) in a clinical lab, OR \n
- Successful completion of a 50wk U.S. military medical laboratory training course, OR \n
- B.S. degree from an accredited institution with a major in a biological or clinical laboratory science OR \n
- Currently enrolled in a MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist) or equivalent training program, with 3 yrs college credits required. \n
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Medical Laboratory Assistant MLA (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred.Valid driver's license if one is departmentally required.
