Responsibilities:

- Balances work and personal life, models safe work hours, and maintains a healthy lifestyle.
- Communicates workplace safety hazards effectively with peers and management.
- Applies adult learning principles to educate patients, families, students, and new staff, including guidance through care transitions.
- Serves as a preceptor and promotes continuous development through feedback and practice improvement.
- Utilizes the nursing process and Relationship-Based Care to provide holistic, patient-centered care.
- Demonstrates critical thinking in assessing clinical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs, ensuring comprehensive documentation and communication.
- Actively participates in shared governance, goal-setting, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and the work environment.
- Incorporates evidence-based practices and research to improve patient outcomes and overall care quality
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills for age-appropriate care and growth/development principles.

- Physical stamina for walking, standing, lifting, and positioning patients.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- UPMC-approved national certification preferred.
- Current RN licensure or multistate license through the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC).
- CPR required (AHA standards).
- Graduate nurses must complete licensure exam within 6 months of hire.
- PALS/ACLS required within one year of hire or transfer.
- Act 34 and OAPSA clearances required.
