Responsibilities:

Verify essential patient information and records in the medical record and computerized scheduling system to ensure accuracy.

Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule patient appointments efficiently while relaying necessary messages to staff and providers.

Greet and register patients in a friendly and timely manner, providing clear instructions and directions.

Inform relevant departments of patient arrivals, executing proper check-in and check-out functions.

Maintain a clean and organized waiting area, ensuring the beverage station and reading materials are well-stocked.

Prepare patient charts for upcoming appointments, ensuring all relevant information is included.

Answer phone calls, screen calls, take messages, and provide accurate information regarding appointments and testing.

Maintain updated physician schedules to ensure patients are scheduled correctly and appointments are confirmed, while completing necessary paperwork like encounter forms and referrals.

Utilize the automated financial management system for scheduling, information verification, charge entry, co-payment collection, and reconciliation tasks, adhering to UPMC Health System policies and procedures while maintaining strict confidentiality of medical records.
