Pharmacist Specialists ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient pharmacotherapy. They support medication-use systems and specialized services like informatics, research, compounding, medication safety, and quality. They help prevent medication-related issues, ensure regulatory compliance, and serve as resources for healthcare teams. They lead quality initiatives, provide education, and mentor pharmacy students and residents. Additionally, they participate in quality improvement efforts to enhance clinical pharmacy services.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret physician orders to prepare and dispense medications in compliance with regulations.
  • Report suspected adverse drug reactions promptly.
  • Maintain the formulary and promote rational drug therapy.
  • Review patient medication records for allergies, interactions, and duplications.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and interns.
  • Follow all regulatory, professional, and quality standards in pharmaceutical care.
  • Clarify unclear or incomplete orders with physicians and nurses.
  • Provide drug information and education to healthcare professionals and pharmacy students.
  • Use technology to assist in pharmaceutical care.
  • Prepare intravenous solutions using aseptic techniques.
  • Additional specialized or site-specific duties as needed.

Salary : $53 - $85
