Description: Provides leadership for the 4 year Resident Educator Program and assistance to teachers through the Peer Assistance Program.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university
State of Ohio teacher's certificate
Completion of the ODE mentor training program
Prior experience of serving on district and school committees
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work effectively with others
Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
Effective, active listening skills
Organizational and problem solving skills
Knowledge of current research and practice in teacher professional development
Knowledge of the Ohio Educator Standards and implementation strategies
Background/knowledge base in methodology and supervised practice
Previous mentoring or coaching experience
Ability to work in a team environment
Essential Functions:
Will work with a committee to collaboratively to provide the district’s 4 Year Resident Educator Program based on Ohio’s Resident Educator Program Standards
Facilitate the Resident Educator and new teacher orientation throughout the year.
Assists in the selection and training of mentors based on Ohio Mentor Standards
Meets regularly with school and district administrators regarding program elements and needs of Resident Educators and their mentors
Conducts frequent and ongoing classroom observations of new teachers and provides professional feedback to the educator
Works closely with school administrators and the Peer Assistance Review Committee to identify staff assistance needs and manage the peer assistance process.
Helps the identified teacher and administrator develop goals to assist the staff member to become a more effective teacher
Develops a plan with the identified teacher to achieve the agreed upon goals
Develops summative progress reports on status of identified teacher at the completion of the individual assistance program.
Facilitates placements of pre-service teachers and provides related professional learning opportunities as a connection between district and higher education
Assists with the screening and placements of new certificated staff members
Focus the goals and objectives of district in order to provide support for educators be used to plan and guide goal setting and professional development
Works with mentor teachers and other professionals to support the development of pre-service, new, and developing teachers in alignment with district goals and state educator standards
Collaboration with the other staff serving to support district well-being initiatives and efforts consistent with the district’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Serves as an active participant on District committees, as needed

Interact with other departments and school personnel when necessary
Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner

Additional Working Conditions:
Occasional requirement to travel, both daily and overnight
Occasional use of personal vehicle for work within the district with reimbursement at IRS rate

Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions
Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 10 pounds, e.g., paper boxes, deliveries of supplies and equipment
Frequent repetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing, calculator, writing
Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb, and stoop
Employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment with the District.
