What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marching Band Director position at Upper Dublin School District?
Upper Dublin High School has a vacancy for a Director of the Upper Dublin Marching Band. This is an extracurricular position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (May Include)
- Choose all music to be performed during the marching band season.
- Rehearse and prepare the marching band to perform at all varsity football games and competitions
- Conduct summer camp preparatory rehearsals.
- Supervise and direct all practices and performances of the marching band.
- Make recommendations for the hiring of marching band assistants in coordination with the Director of Activities.
- Direct, supervise, and coordinate the work of the marching band assistants.
- Submit a performance schedule and bus departure time schedule to the transportation department
- Maintain accurate inventory of all equipment and uniforms used by the marching band (i.e. uniforms, instruments, music, rifles, flags, batons, etc.)
- Provide the Director of Student Activities with an accurate roster of marching band members for the weekly eligibility lists.
- Follow the guidelines in regards to student eligibility in extracurricular activities.
- Make appropriate arrangements for use of facilities and practice fields through the Director of Student Activities.
- Serve as an advisor to the Band Parents Association (booster organization).
- Serve as a liaison between the Band Parents Association and the school administration.
- Assist the Band Parents Association in preparing for the Spectacle in Sound and all other fundraisers.
