Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technician
Position Summary: Ensure that all quality standards and product specifications are met. The Quality Assurance Tech is responsible for monitoring and auditing production on the floor to ensure humane handling, sanitary dressing, cutting, packaging and boxing of products are all held to the highest standard.
Essential Daily Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and documenting equipment and floor cleanliness.
- Monitor and documenting employee GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and SSOPs (Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures).
- Audit products and processes to ensuring they meet all specification requirements.
- Read data or other materials to understand and apply knowledge of specifications, inspection and testing procedures.
- Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, and quantities inspected.
- Collect or select samples for testing and Discard or reject products or materials.
- Write inspection reports describing results; take corrective action as needed based on findings.
- Compare colors, shapes, textures of products or materials with color charts, templates, or samples to verify conformance to standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to perform all job functions safely in accordance with food safety and quality standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Prior experience with computer data entry and beef product specifications helpful but will train.
- Must have the ability to read, write and understand English. Spanish Language skills a plus.
- Age 18 & authorized to work in the US.
- Problem solving and interpersonal communication skills a must.
- Ability to attend work consistently.
- Ability to work safely, wear PPE, and follow safety rules.
- Display a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Be adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction and work in cooperation with others.
- Be attentive to detail and maintain a clean work area.
- Must be assertive and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform consistent, accurate work with minimal direction and work successfully as part of a team.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand or walk up to 8-10 hrs. a day.
- Lift 50 lbs. frequently.
- Ability to work in hot or cold work environment and must obey safety rules & exercise caution in all work activities.
