General Job Description:
The instructor will be responsible for Upper Valley Career Center’s Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses taught at Troy High School and will provide instructional activities that are consistent with the objectives of the program. The instructor will conduct lessons for courses from the Engineering pathway as identifi ed in the state of Ohio content standards. Individuals holding a 7-12 High School Mathematics, Science, or Industrial Arts teaching license or hold or qualify for 4-12 Career Technical Education license in Engineering are eligible to teach PLTW courses after completing PLTW training.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
? Instruct classroom and laboratory classes according to PLTW standards
? Design and implement real-world applications for the students
? Demonstrate knowledge of content, pedagogy and knowledge of students’ competencies
? Organize classroom and/or lab in a manner which is conductive to learning
? Plan and manage allocated budget for daily operations
? Follow District Advisory Committee procedures
? Maintain positive classroom management by setting and communicating high, consistent expectations for learning and achievement
? Remain current with industry needs and remain updated with current technology and industry trends
? Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
? Must meet all the requirements governing teacher education and licensure.
? Must hold Ohio State Board of Education 7-12 High School Mathematics, Science, or Industrial Technology
teaching license or hold or qualify for 4-12 Career Technical Education license in Engineering Technology which would
include 5 years of experience in industry.
? Engineering background or experience in design and modeling, or automation and robotics preferred.
? The instructor must be a strong team leader, possess excellent human relations skills and serve as a role model for students.
? Meets all mandated health screening requirements.
? Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check.
? Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.
Salary:
Appropriate placement on the Certifi cated Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience. Salary will range from $51,017.00 ( Class II, Step 0) to $84,160.00 (Class V, Step 10). Base contract is 187 Days. Minimum workday is 7 hours per day exclusive of a lunch break . One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.

Performance Evaluation:
Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center.
