Position Description
JOB TITLE: Front Desk Receptionist
SCHEDULE: 8:30am-5:30pm Monday - Friday
Required: 2 Saturdays per month 8:30am-12:00p. The week prior to your Saturday shift you take a half day.
REPORTS TO: Practice Manager
INTERRELATIONSHIPS: Medical Providers, Nursing Staff, Office Staff and Patients
EDUCATION: High School Graduate with 3-5 years of medical experience preferred, but not mandatory
COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge of the EHR systems (scheduling system and the electronic health record system)
- Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong written/verbal communication skills, good time management skills, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Strong telephone etiquette/skills with attention to details
- Willingness to work independently, when necessary, as well as an ability to seek supervision when needed or appropriate
- Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team in an appropriate/professional manner
- Ability to greet patients and their families in an appropriate/professional/friendly manner
- Ability to collect payments at time of visits or over the telephone
- Ability to follow procedures and policies
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to function in an office setting
POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Front Desk Receptionist will be the first impression of Upper Valley Pediatrics the goal is to maintain a friendly manner and greet the patient and families with a positive attitude. It is also the responsibility of the front desk receptionist to keep the waiting room and the front desk clean and orderly.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Answer the phones
- Greet and assist patients, families, and guest upon arrival
- Check in patients for appointments
- Take payments/copays, ensuring that you are at a 90% collection rate
- Brings mail out to mailbox for pick up and brings in the mail.
- Provide handouts, office notes and immunization record when needed.
- Give documentation to families that come to pick up immunization records or medical records
- Schedule appointments as patients leave the office, using the EHR as guidance whenever possible
- Scan medical records, office visits and completes request for faxing documents
- Completes all of the necessary steps to closing the office each workday.
- Required to work two Saturdays each month
- Maintains the Front Desk work queue in the EHR
SECONDARY DUTIES:
- Maintains forms in front desk filing bin
- Scan medical records that providers put in the bin at the front desk
- Conducting Past due Physical calls/ scheduling Physical Appointments when appropriate
- Assist with reminder calls and other appointment related calls such as reschedules.
- Maintain front desk area and waiting room in a clean and organized manner
- Remove trash, recycle, and shred daily
- Completes end of the day checklist
- Other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager
PAY RANGE:
$15.00 - $18.00 - Depending on experience
This is a non – exempt position
