The mission of UPRISING ADDICTION CENTER is to offer the highest quality and professional, Inpatient Detoxification, Residential Treatment, Partial Hospital Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and Outpatient services.

JOB SUMMARY
The mid-level practitioner is a member of the healthcare team who works in collaboration with other staff to provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients. The role of a mid-level practitioner is to, under the general supervision of the medical director or other physician, assess, maintain, and improve the individual and collective health status of individuals with alcohol and substance use disorders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Knowledge of industry standards: organization, theory, principles, and research processes, quality improvement and change management techniques, accreditation and regulatory standards, ability to assess clinical care requirements based on medical, basic psychotherapeutic, and human development principles, scope of practice, and regulatory standards.
- Oversee medical care provided to patients; obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, order medications and procedures; authorize admissions and renders admitting diagnoses. Conducts psychiatric H&P within 24 hours of client admission.
- Complete medical progress note after encounter with client.
- Completes weekly rounds on each 3.7CO client.
- Available by call afterhours and weekends.
- Diagnose and direct counseling for each patient on a plan for treatment.
- Provide consultation/peer review to other physicians/clinicians; supervise nurse practitioner; actively participates in activities intended to improve patient care/facility operations.
- Oversees medical and nursing department.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely medical records about each patient, including observations during examinations.
- Comply with all laws applicable to internal medicine, including HIPAA
- Prescribe medication in accordance with Louisiana statute and professional practice guidelines.
- Review incoming reports (e.g. lab, x-ray, EKG) sign, date and follow-up in a timely manner.
- Participate in staff outreach and off-site health care programs in the UPRISING ADDICTION CENTER service area as assigned by the Medical Director.
- Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested.
- Assist in outside medical public relations functions and medical staff recruitment.
- Available for consultation, direction, and on-side care on evenings, weekends, and during off hours.
- Assist in patient discharge planning, especially in terms of health care needs, meets with patient prior to discharge.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education, Training, and Experience Required:
Nurse Practitioner:
- Education: Masters Degree in Nursing is required.
- Experience: 3 years work experience as a Nurse Practitioner is preferred.
- Certification: Current Louisiana RN license and Nurse Practitioner licensure with current certification from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, (AANP) or the American Nursing Credentialing Center, (ANCC).
- Current DEA Certificate
- Current DPS Certificate
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR)
- ACLS or Advanced Life Support within 12 months of employment, if appropriate
Physician Assistant:
- Bachelor’s degree and successful completion of accredited physician assistant program.
- Current Louisiana Licensure as a Physician Assistant; Current Physician Assistant certification issued by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants
- Experience: 3 years work experience as a Physician Assistant is preferred.

- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR)
- ACLS or Advanced Life Support within 12 months of employment, if appropriate
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of industry standards: organization, theory, principles, and research processes, quality improvement and change management techniques, financial analysis, budget process and planning, accreditation and regulatory standards, strategic planning principles, ability to assess nursing care requirements based on nursing principles, scope of practice, and regulatory standards.
- Knowledge of medications, indications, dosage ranges, side effects, and potential toxicity.
- Knowledge of PC software programs, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
- Accurately and timely enters clinical documentation using electronic medical records (EMR) software.
- Written and oral communication skills; must be able to concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic.
- Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile situations such as when verbally or physically confronted in an aggressive manner.
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision in an unstructured environment with multiple demands.
- Reading and writing level that can clearly express or understand complex concepts, assessments, directions and processes or sequences of events.
- Ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the facility.
- Working knowledge of (American Society of Addiction Medicine) ASAM criteria and dual diagnosis clients.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee/provider must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal to high volumes of stress.
