What are the responsibilities and job description for the POM Director for Pre-Clerkship Medical Students position at Upstate Medical University?
Job Summary: The Director of the Practice of Medicine Course develops curriculum and oversees teaching of content related to clinical skills for NCOM students in the 3-semester pre-clerkship period. Clinical skills addressed in the program include communication with patients, families, and other care team members; physical examination; clinical reasoning; and professional development as related to the role of a student-doctor in a patients care. Minimum Qualifications:
MD or DO; active or recent experience in patient care; prior experience teaching or training medical students, residents, or other healthcare professionals; familiarity with curriculum development, assessment, and educational best practices in clinical skills training.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience teaching in the Practice of Medicine or similar course; prior experience as a course or clerkship director; advanced training or experience in teaching physical exam techniques, patient communication, or professionalism.
