Position Overview
The Summer Seasonal Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all pool patrons by maintaining a vigilant and proactive approach to safety and customer service. Under general supervision, lifeguards are tasked with preventing and responding to emergencies, adhering to pool regulations, and ensuring a safe aquatic environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate reliability, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude. Essential Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe swimming environment by enforcing all pool rules and regulations.
- Effectively respond to emergencies, providing first aid, rescuing swimmers in distress, and administering CPR or artificial respiration as needed.
- Maintain required certifications and complete necessary training in CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding, AED, etc.
- Evaluate pool conditions regularly, initiating an emergency action plan when necessary.
- Inspect pool facilities, equipment, and water quality to ensure safety and operational readiness.
- Assist with pool maintenance duties, including cleaning facilities, conducting chlorine water tests, and documenting water quality and accident reports.
- Guide swimmers in and out of the pool safely, particularly in hazardous conditions.
- Deliver exceptional customer service in all interactions with clients.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and initiatives, remaining flexible to changes.
- Report any unsafe conditions or hazards to your supervisor promptly.
- Wear a company-approved uniform while on duty.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor, specific to the location or facility.
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in lifeguarding and customer service is preferred but not required.
- Current CPR, AED, Lifeguard, and First Aid certifications are required (certification courses available through Upstate Pool Management Group for free).
- Ability to remain calm and take effective action during emergency situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; multilingual abilities are a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors for prolonged periods.
Work Schedule
Flexible scheduling options are available, including weekday, weekend, morning, and evening shifts for seasonal positions.
