Job Summary
Upward Settlement Services is seeking experienced talent to help expand our footprint in the Greater Pittsburgh real estate market. As a Settlement Officer, you’re the human link between our process and clients. You’re there at the beginning, accepting and reviewing contracts. You’re there in the middle, working alongside your Processor as well as with agents and their clients to keep the process moving forward, verifying that titles are clean, taxes are paid, and loans are funded. Finally, you’re there at the end, conducting settlements as a licensed notary, to assure that no funds or property will change hands until all terms have been carried out to completion.
Responsibilities
- Knowing the intricacies of the contract from beginning to end, ensuring that it is closed in a timely, efficient and error-free manner.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with real estate professionals, lenders, and other key professionals.
- Working with lenders and underwriters to ensure that all the I’s are dotted, and T’s are crossed to fund and complete transactions.
- Reaching out to new agents, earning their confidence and trust and creating opportunities to market our business; retaining agents by providing them with white-glove service.
- Verify all paperwork is complete so settlement stays on schedule, including reviewing title commitments and raising title issues to be cleared.
- Working closely with a title processor to open opportunities for advancement; delegating, auditing work answering questions and giving direction.
- Conducting settlement and making it a positive, memorable experience for agents and buyers.
Qualifications
What you must have:
- Experience: Two to three years of title and settlement or related experience, both front- and back-end beneficial.
- Certification: Notary public or willingness to obtain quickly.
- Industry awareness: Technical knowledge of the closing process.
- Computer skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Communications skills: Strong written and verbal skills to keep agents, buyers, sellers and all other parties up to date with the process and work with them to resolve issues.
- Travel: Ability to be mobile including meeting clients for closings at various locations (Brokerage offices, shared workspaces and other locations dedicated to Upward closings).
