About the Role:
Upwing Energy is seeking an experienced test engineer with expertise in developing and performing tests for complex electromechanical devices. The ideal candidate will have a passion for unique challenges, varied assignments, and driving complex testing projects to completion.
Job Overview:
The test engineer will be part of a cross-functional team responsible for developing and operating complex electronic and electromechanical test beds for early engineering development of novel gas compressor systems and sub-components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and analyze test requirements to ensure testing validates design
- Design and develop test stands and fixtures incorporating mechanical, fluid, and electrical components
- Set up and operate data acquisition equipment to measure and record sensor data
- Write high-quality test plans, procedures, and reports
- Generate P&IDs and electrical schematics
- Interface with technicians to support test stands during build and operation
- Manage and ensure safe operation of test areas
- Develop and follow guidelines for accurate and efficient measurement and recording of test data
- Troubleshoot prototype compressors and test setups
- Coordinate teams to solve system problems
- Disseminate test results
- Provide feedback to design engineers for validation or improvement considerations
- Maintain and improve testing facility as required
- Design and build testing infrastructure with future-proofing in mind
- Search for and select ancillary equipment based on requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout product development
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of test/validation or industrial automation experience
- Minimum 4 years of engineering experience
- Experience planning and executing test engineering operations in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with basic test instrumentation and low-voltage wiring practices
- Test strategy development experience
- Test fixturing design experience
- PREFERRED SKILLS INCLUDE:
- National Instruments LabVIEW or PLC ladder logic programming experience
- National Instruments hardware (PXI, cRIO, and/or cDAQ) experience
- CAD design and drawing generation
- Rotating machinery alignment and vibration monitoring and analysis
- Rotating electric machines and power electronics (high voltage and high current)
- Controls and process automation experience
