What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supplier Quality Manager position at UQSI?
The responsibilities of the Supplier Quality Manager include the following: Warehouse Management, Investigate, analyze and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage warehouse receivables and working with suppliers in a warehouse environment.
- Work with Purchasing and Management to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain and update critical supplier audit system and schedule.
- Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPI’s, including Supplier OTD (Past due), DPPM and waste.
- Establish specific short / long term supplier quality goals.
- Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non‐
- Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
- Develop long‐term supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas.
- Aide manufacturing in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials following a defined new product development process.
- Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting Unipres requirements. Projects may include: process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 6‐Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events.
- Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base.
- Communicate engineering and manufacturing specifications to supplier technical teams.
- Actively manage suppliers to ensure there are no regressions with the implementation of new processes.
- Aide in the new, probationary and rejected supplier transition processes.
Education:
4 years of engineering degree or engineering related field is desired, but incumbents with the right experience will be considered. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
Experience and Training Requirements:
- Strong warehouse management experience dealing with receivables and suppliers
- Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office applications
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Understanding of APQP management
- Strong blue print / GD&T reading skills.
- Knowledge of various quality system methodologies 8D, Lean, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, 8-D, DFMEA, PFEMA, PPAP, etc. preferred.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, work well with diverse groups of people and be able to function independently of direct supervision.
- Previous Quality control of a supplier a plus.
- Basic knowledge of press and assembly.
- Strong data analysis skills.
- Knowledge of quality evaluation of a product can be done.
Experience:
- Experience managing and controlling a warehouse environment
- Statistical stack up analysis: 5 years (Preferred)
- Quality Engineer: 5 years (Preferred)
- Supplier Quality Manager: 5 years (Preferred)
- SPC, Six Sigma, RoHS and REACH: 5 years (Preferred)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
