What are the responsibilities and job description for the Casework Drafter/Engineer position at Urban Cabinets Company?
Urban Cabinets Company produces and installs Commercial and Residential Casework and Countertops. All manufactured in our highly automated facility in Woodinville. Currently about 70% of the work we do is Residential and 30% is Commercial.
We are looking for a talented, driven, and self-motivated individual for our Casework Drafter/Engineer position. This position may entail some sales (estimating) and project management.
Currently, we primarily use Mosaic for drafting and outputting our Projects. We also draft projects in Auto Cad and then output to the Shop in Mosaic.
This position might be perfect for an experienced drafter who wants to gain experience with Project Management and Sales OR this position would work well for an experienced drafter who wants to gain knowledge and experience with CNC output and other aspects of casework engineering.
Alternatively, this position is open to a novice drafter who may want to gain experience in general (willing to train the right person).
This position may be flexible to allow for remote work.
We are looking for candidates with the following background and skills (not required, but ideal):
- Knowledge of Commercial Casework (reception desks, restaurant casework and countertops, kiosks, lunch rooms and break rooms, wall paneling, ceiling grids)
- Knowledge of Residential Cabinetry
We are looking for candidates with the following background and skills (required):
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings
- Hands-on. Willing and able to create and build solutions
- Strong multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of proficiency and aptitude with the latest technology
- Self-starter and highly motivated
The responsibilities of the Casework Drafter/Engineer:
- Estimating Casework projects
- Drafting and Engineering projects
- Providing drawings and submittals to clients
- Working with client to value engineer projects
- Coordinating with material vendors
- Coordinating with subcontractors and vendors
- Coordination field measurements and supervising installers
- Provide engineering and output to CNC machines
- Coordinate with assembly staff during fabrication
- Manage changes during installation
- Outreach to potential clients
