ABOUT THE POSITION:
Urban Dove Team Charters seeks a Manager, Curriculum Specialist to lead the development, revision, and implementation of innovative and effective curricula across our charter schools. This vital role focuses on enhancing educational content through the application of best practices in curriculum design, including backward planning, differentiation, and the integration of technology. ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
The Central Office is the non-profit entity that manages the Urban Dove Charter Schools. The CMO provides a wide range of services–including back office functions, accounting, hiring, professional development, data analysis, public relations, advocacy, and more. The CMO is also responsible for providing support structures for the schools and ensuring proper replication of the model as the organization expands.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the revision and refinement of existing curricula, ensuring alignment with best practices.
- Implement a backward planning approach to curriculum design, emphasizing clear learning objectives.
- Design curricula within a gradual release framework, fostering a structured progression of student independence.
- Create engaging and experiential learning materials, considering both visual appeal and interactive experiences.
- Ensure curricula are differentiated to meet diverse student needs.
- Develop skills-based instructional materials that promote mastery and application of knowledge.
- Infuse curricula with cultural relevance, promoting high expectations and rigorous instruction.
- Facilitate inclusive curriculum and assessment practices that recognize and respect diverse backgrounds.
- Align curriculum with regents standards where applicable, ensuring students are prepared for standardized assessments.
- Intentionally incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance the overall student learning experience.
- Foster a student-centered and data-driven curriculum development process.
- Continuously revise curricula based on student work and data indicators of success after implementation.
- Add to and maintain a comprehensive repository of curricula and instructional resources.
- Collaborate with Directors of Curriculum and Instruction (DCIs) and Instructional Coaches (ICs) to problem-solve and revise resources based on classroom experiences and student outcomes.
- Conduct and oversee Curriculum specific Professional Development (PD) sessions for school staff.
- Manage and organize curriculum folders within Google Drive for efficient accessibility and collaboration.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in curriculum development and instructional design, preferably in an educational setting serving diverse student populations.
- Proven leadership experience in an educational context, with a track record of managing teams and fostering professional development.
- Expertise in curriculum design principles, including backward design, differentiation, and the gradual release of responsibility framework.
- Strong knowledge of educational standards, including regents standards, and the ability to align curriculum and assessment practices accordingly.
- Ability to develop engaging and experiential learning materials that cater to a wide range of learning styles and needs.
- Proficiency in incorporating instructional technology to enhance learning experiences and outcomes.
- Experience in fostering a student-centered, data-driven approach to curriculum development and revision.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with educators at various levels to refine and improve instructional materials and practices.
- Strong organizational skills, with the capability to manage and organize curriculum resources efficiently.
- Effective communication and facilitation skills, with experience conducting professional development sessions for educators.
- Certification in curriculum development, instructional design, or educational leadership.
- Experience with digital platforms and educational software, particularly Google Drive and related tools, for curriculum management and collaboration.
- Familiarity with cultural relevance in curriculum content, and strategies to promote inclusivity and respect for diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of current research and trends in education, curriculum development, and instructional strategies.
- Experience in evaluating curriculum effectiveness using student work and data indicators, with the ability to make informed adjustments.

Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
