- Design Reviews: Review architectural drawings of new food establishments; document and deliver code-compliant feedback within required timeframes.
- Health Inspections: Conduct final health construction inspections for newly built establishments, complete inspection reports, and follow up on necessary actions.
- Collaborative Coordination: Work closely with project teams and facility staff to ensure seamless design reviews and inspection schedules.
- Additional Duties: Tackle related tasks as assigned to support the programs mission.
- Bachelors degree in public/environmental/occupational health or a health-related field, or architecture/engineering field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience (3 preferred) in:
- Reviewing architectural drawings for food establishments.
- Conducting pre-operational health inspections for newly constructed facilities.
- A valid drivers license.
- Certifications/Licenses: NYS FSIO-I or FSIO-II, NJ Licensed Registered Environmental Health Specialist, Sanitarian or Health Inspector Licenses or equivalent.
- Technical Expertise: Experience with:
- Reviewing demolition and architectural plans.
- Diagramming specifications for electrical, mechanical ventilation, and plumbing systems.
- Interpreting kitchen/food service drawings and specs.
- Experience with food safety and public health.
- Familiarity with NYC, NY State, and NJ State public health regulations.
- Experience conducting comprehensive pre-operational inspections and documenting findings of the inspections in written reports for newly constructed establishments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and public health agencies.
- Proficiency in eBuilder, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proven problem-solving, project management, and multitasking abilities.
