ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, develop, and motivate a high-performing local sales team to drive revenue growth across radio, digital, and event sponsorships.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to meet and exceed revenue goals, ensuring pricing integrity and market competitiveness.
- Consistently recruit, train, and coach sales professionals, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous development.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key advertisers, agencies, and local businesses, positioning Urban One as their preferred media partner.
- Develop and execute multi-platform advertising solutions, integrating radio, digital, and events to maximize client impact.
- Collaborate with programming, promotions, and digital teams to align sales initiatives with content strategies and audience engagement.
- Approve daily sales orders and oversee business workflows, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to deadlines.
- Regularly track, analyze, and report sales performance metrics, providing data-driven insights to optimize revenue strategies.
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, expanding market share through creative and consultative sales approaches.
- Represent the company at industry events, community initiatives, and networking opportunities, strengthening brand presence in the Houston market.
- Ensure compliance with FCC regulations, corporate policies, and ethical sales practices, upholding the company’s reputation and legal standards.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Proven leadership experience in sales management, preferably in radio, digital media, or advertising.
- Strong ability to drive revenue growth, exceed sales targets, and lead high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of advertising sales, media buying, and digital marketing solutions.
- Ability to develop and execute data-driven sales strategies, leveraging market insights and performance metrics.
- Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills with a client-centric approach.
- Experience managing major accounts, securing high-value advertising deals, and expanding revenue streams.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills, ensuring seamless execution of business objectives.
- Experience working with CRM systems and digital ad sales platforms is a plus.
- Professional demeanor with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in sales management, with a track record of success in media sales, digital marketing, or advertising. At least 5 years of experience in radio sales is required. Valid driver’s license and state-mandated automobile insurance required.
