Under the supervision of the Director of Resources and Outreach, the Outreach Program Manager is responsible for the coordination and supervision of all aspects of the administration and supervision of Urban Peak’s Outreach (OR) team. This includes response to emergency situations, HMIS data quality, representing Urban Peak in the community, ensuring the OR team is meeting the youth’s needs on the streets and collaborating with appropriate stakeholders. The OR Program Manager will supervise OR workers and oversee case management for youth working with the OR team. The Program Manager works closely with the Director of Resources and Outreach to assist with program development, grant and report writing, and management of OR budgets. The OR Program Manager will help support and act as a liaison between the Volunteer Coordinator and year of service volunteers, communicating needs and ensuring all volunteers feel welcome and have an understanding of Outreach. In addition, the OR Program Manager may act as the Urban Peak representative on the outreach-related HOST committees in the absence of the Director of Resources and Outreach.

Duties include community and street outreach, program oversight, community collaboration, quality assurance, and supervision.

This position will ensure that interactions, interventions and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff.

Who You Are :

  • A Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field and three (3) years’ related work experience and two (2) years’ supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience OR a
  • Master’s degree in education, business, communication or a related field and a minimum two (2) years’ of experiences working with youth.
  • Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve encouraged but not required.
  • Must be computer proficient and possess experience of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Understanding of the provision of and commitment to trauma informed care and positive youth development
  • Must be insurable as a driver on Urban Peak’s auto liability policy in order to conduct business on behalf of the agency or transport youth using an Urban Peak vehicle and an approved personal vehicle.
  • Ability to use second language in written and verbal communication desired (Spanish, Vietnamese, ASL)
  • Ability to pass both federal and state background check and a pre-employment TB screening.

What You Will Do :

The duties of this position are performed personally, in cooperation with your supervisor, and / or in coordination with other staff. Additional work functions and duties may be assigned.

Community and Street Outreach

  • Actively represents Urban Peak in the community to persons interested in the issue of homelessness for education, funding, and advocacy purposes, in line with the agency’s vision and at the direction of the Director of Resources and Outreach.
  • Works collaboratively with other Denver Metro Area service providers to identify youth and young adults (15 – 24 years old) in need of assistance accessing services and housing, at the direction of the Director of Resources and Outreach.
  • Assists in organizing and conducting yearly Point In Time survey.
  • Actively encourages staff engagement with street outreach; participate as appropriate and necessary.
  • Implements and maintains programming to deliver resources and knowledge to youth on the streets.
  • Program Oversight

  • Oversees inventory and purchasing of weekly OR supplies.
  • Oversees Case Management for youth accessing OR.
  • Plans and coordinates new hire training.
  • Documents relevant and significant events that occur during the shift in the Communication Log.
  • Assists in planning and facilitating weekly staff meetings.
  • Along with the Director of Resources and Outreach, assists in developing clear procedures and specific action plans for any minors who are encountered on street outreach.
  • Acts as point of contact for child welfare and assist other staff members (or take point) on filing any reports of abuse or neglect.
  • Builds and continues to foster strong relationships with community mental health providers.
  • Is available to assist staff members with a clinical approach during moments of crisis or escalation.
  • Community Collaboration

  • Independently familiarizes self, as well as staff and clients with resources in the community.
  • Collaborates with homeless service providers in the community and Urban Peak programs to provide coordination, communication and continuity of services.
  • Connects staff with other service providers for appropriate resources.
  • Actively builds relationships with other service providers and seeks opportunities to exchange information.
  • Utilizes a trauma informed approach to all interactions with youth, maintaining client confidentiality and respecting that while on outreach, staff are guests in the youths’ space.
  • Quality Assurance

  • Responsible for HMIS completeness and quality assurance of electronic and hard copy youth filess
  • Ensures accurate program intakes and recording of client services
  • Supervision

  • Effectively supervises and manages direct reports and provides, by example and leadership, motivation and direction to employees of the organization.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable state and federal employment laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recognizing and rewarding employees; corrective disciplinary procedures and practices (under direction of the Director of Resources and Outreach), addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Ensures annual employee performance reviews are conducted in a timely and effective manner. Evaluates performance of employees for compliance with established policies and objectives of the organization and contributions in attaining objectives.
  • Helps set the tone of the department to ensure morale, team work, and that the positive employment culture of the organization is maintained.
  • Regularly schedules department and staff 1 : 1 meetings to provide leadership, development, and a forum for communication to ensure coordination and collaboration in meeting organization and individual goals.
  • Manage program and grant budgets and report monthly variances to supervisor and Director of Finance.

  • Who We Are :

    Founded in 1988, Urban Peak is the only non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Our goal is to meet youth where they are and to provide them with the assistance and support, they need to become self-sufficient or obtain the necessary services they need to exit a life on the streets.

    Urban Peak provides numerous programs and services that are founded on the principles of trauma-informed care and Positive Youth Development to assist youth in reaching their potential and living a successful life off the streets. Services include street outreach, a 40-bed shelter for youth ages 15 through 20, a daytime drop-in center, supportive housing, education and employment services, case management, life skills courses, behavioral health evaluations, meals and more. The youth served at the shelter come from a variety of backgrounds, and we strive to be a safe community for all youth, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, class, educational background, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability status.
