Job Summary:
Urban Wellness, a premium cannabis company in New Mexico, is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Employee Development Coordinator to join our team. This individual will play a vital role in shaping the knowledge, skills, and success of our employees through comprehensive on-boarding and ongoing training programs. The Employee Development Coordinator will ensure that all team members are fully equipped to excel in their roles, represent Urban Wellness’s commitment to excellence, and provide unparalleled customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
On-boarding and Initial Training
. Oversee and conduct a structured two-week on-boarding program for new hires.
. Ensure employees achieve necessary certifications, including HIPAA and Food Handler’s certifications, as part of the on-boarding process.
. Prepare employees to excel before transitioning to the sales floor by delivering essential skills and product training.
. Evaluate employees’ readiness and make recommendations for continued training or alternative placements for those not meeting performance standards.
2.
Ongoing and Quarterly Training
. Develop and lead quarterly training sessions to refresh and update employee skills.
. Facilitate refresher courses and follow-ups to address knowledge gaps or reinforce key skills.
. Customer and Product Education
. Conduct regular customer education training to improve staff’s ability to provide accurate, engaging, and helpful information to customers.
. Provide in-depth training on product knowledge, including cannabis terpenes, cross-selling techniques, and positioning strategies.

Develop and implement continuing product education programs to keep staff updated on new products, trends, and regulations.
. Content Development
. Design and create new, customized training content tailored to Urban Wellness’s unique needs and values.
. Leverage multimedia tools and platforms to enhance learning and engagement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in training, education, or facilitation, preferably in retail or the cannabis industry.
- Certifications in training, instructional design, or adult learning principles are a plus.
- Knowledge of cannabis products, including terpenes and related science, is a plus but not required.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and developing e-learning materials.
