The EMT-Basic plays a crucial role in emergency medical services, providing immediate care to patients in urgent situations. Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide appropriate medical assistance.
- Assess patients’ conditions through thorough examinations and vital sign checks.
- Administer basic life support (BLS) techniques and interventions as needed.
- Assist in airway management and ensure patient safety during transport.
- Drive emergency vehicles safely while adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including those in Level II Trauma Centers and ER settings.
- Document patient information accurately and maintain detailed records of care provided.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to emergency medicine and critical care transport.
Skills
- Knowledge of physiology and human anatomy to effectively assess patient needs.
- Experience administering injections and performing basic medical procedures.
- Proficiency in DME (Durable Medical Equipment) usage for patient care.
- Strong understanding of airway management techniques.
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments, especially during critical situations.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and medical personnel.
