Job Summary:
Ursa Farmers Cooperative, a leader in the grain and agricultural industry, is seeking a dynamic and motivated Grain Originator to join our team. The Grain Originator will be responsible for sourcing, buying, and managing relationships with farmers and producers to ensure the procurement of high-quality grains. This role requires an individual with strong negotiation skills, market knowledge, and a passion for the agriculture sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grain buying and Contracting: Develop and maintain relationships with farmers, growers, and other grain companies to secure grain in line with market conditions.
- Market Analysis: Monitor and analyze grain market trends, pricing, and weather conditions to aid in origination.
- Negotiation: Negotiate prices, contracts, and terms of sale with producers to achieve competitive purchasing margins while maintaining strong relationships.
- Logistics Coordination: Work with logistics and transportation teams to ensure efficient movement and storage of grain products.
- Customer Service: Provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and transportation partners.
- Reporting: Track and report on origination activities, pricing trends, and customer feedback.
- Risk Management: Manage risk through proactive strategies, including hedging and forward contracting.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business, Economics, or a related field (preferred).
- 2 years of experience in grain origination, agricultural sales, or related roles (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of grain markets, pricing dynamics, and supply chain operations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with industry-specific software.

Compensation:
- Base Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000 annually (experience & expertise based)
- Profit sharing bonuses in addition to base salary
