What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Buyer position at Urschel?
Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking an Associate Buyer. The Associate Buyer will be responsible for primary liaison to the supply base, tasked with purchasing goods and services at the best possible price, quality and delivery terms while ensuring the necessary items are available to meet the demands of the organization. The position is not remote and will be required to report daily to the Corporate Headquarters in Chesterton, Indiana.
Primary job duties include
- :Responsible for the purchasing of various commodities, including but not limited to machine components, outside processing services, MRO, and facility services/supplies
- .Assesses and aligns purchased part parameters, reorder points, and availability of product to meet operational needs
- .Processes purchase orders, acknowledgements, expedite requests, receipts, returns, and invoice discrepancies in a timely manner (Procure-to-Pay process)
- .Reconciles cycle count discrepancies and enters inventory adjustments when necessary
- .Works with Procurement Manger on purchasing initiatives such as cost reductions, supplier consolidation, stocking programs, etc
- .Develops, supports, and collaborates on internal requests (Engineering, Manufacturing, P&IC) to re-source or make changes to purchased product
- .Meets with suppliers (including off-site visits) on a regular basis to evaluate performance, market trends, open orders, lead times, expedite requests, staffing, and continuous improvement strategies
