Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Camp Aquatics Director to lead our summer camp's aquatic programs. This pivotal role involves overseeing all water-based activities, ensuring safety protocols are meticulously followed, and fostering a fun and educational environment for campers and staff alike. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a passion for aquatics and youth development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Oversight: Develop, implement, and supervise all aquatic activities, including swim lessons, free swim sessions, and water sports, ensuring they are safe, engaging, and aligned with camp objectives.
- Staff Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage a team of lifeguards and swim instructors, promoting a culture of safety, professionalism, and enthusiasm.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce all safety protocols and procedures, conduct regular safety drills, and maintain compliance with local and national aquatic safety standards.
- Camper Assessment: Evaluate campers' swimming abilities, assign appropriate swim levels, and monitor progress throughout the camp session.
- Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the pool and surrounding areas, ensuring all equipment is in excellent working condition.
- Parental Communication: Maintain open and positive communication with parents/guardians regarding campers' progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Administrative Duties: Prepare and maintain accurate records, including swim progress reports, incident reports, and staff evaluations.
Qualifications:
- Certifications: Current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR & AED, Lifeguard Management, and Water Safety Instructor (WSI). Candidates willing to obtain these certifications by June 1 are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in aquatics supervision, preferably in a camp or educational setting, with demonstrated experience in swim instruction and lifeguard management.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Personal Attributes: Energetic, approachable, and dedicated to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for campers and staff.
Work Schedule:
- Availability: Monday to Friday (no weekends).
- Camp Duration: Summer camps run for 6-10 weeks.
- Training: Paid training provided prior to camp sessions.
