As the first and only swim school to provide swim instruction directly at clients' pools, we’re on a mission to prevent water-related incidents by equipping children and adults with essential swim techniques and water safety knowledge. This summer, we’re looking for energetic, passionate, and reliable Swim Instructors to join our team at a vibrant summer camp setting!
About the Role
As a Summer Camp Swim Instructor at urSwim, you’ll spend your days teaching campers of all skill levels how to swim with confidence and joy. This role requires both the ARC [or equivalent] Lifeguard certification and Nassau County Lifeguard Certification. Half day shifts available to those who are solely ARC Lifeguard Certified.
While your primary role is to teach fun, structured swim lessons, you'll also take on lifeguarding duties at designated times during the day, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all campers. Whether you’re leading a lesson or overseeing free swim time, your role is essential in creating a positive and worry-free aquatic experience.

What You’ll Do:
- Teach fun, structured swim lessons following urSwim’s proven curriculum.
- Ensure camper safety in and around the pool at all times.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment by supervising pool activities and enforcing rules.
- Respond swiftly to emergencies, perform rescues, and administer first aid as needed.
- Make swim lessons exciting and engaging while building confidence in young swimmers.
- Be a role model and leader, providing positive feedback and motivation.
- Problem-solve and adapt lessons to meet different learning styles and abilities.
- Care for and maintain all swim instruction equipment.
- Communicate and enforce safety rules to create a secure learning environment.
- Report any incidents, rescues, or equipment concerns to the supervisor.
- Always wear your urSwim uniform and represent our team professionally.
What We’re Looking For:
- Certified Swim Instructors & Lifeguards (American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR)
- Nassau County Lifeguard Certification
- Passionate individuals who love working with kids and teaching water safety.
- Strong leaders and communicators who can encourage and motivate students.
- Self-motivated team players with a positive attitude.
- Reliable transportation to and from the camp location.
- Availability for at least 24 hours per week (full-time preferred, seasonal position).
