Responsibilities Incumbent operates a field-type tractor with attached and towed equipment. Plans the order in which work is to be accomplished; transports materials and equipment; and digs, loads, plants, clears, mows and dispenses liquid and solid materials. May operate under different conditions, such as mud, snow, and areas where trees and shrubs present operational hazards. Performs minor maintenance on field-type tractors and attached and towed equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicant must have one (1) year related experience in operating and performing minor maintenance on a field-type tractor and associated equipment. Applicants must have and retain valid driver's license. May be required to obtain a Government Motor Vehicle Operator's permit. Must have knowledge of tractor and equipment operating characteristics such as tractor gears, power ratios, braking and turning capacities, and equipment power requirements, capacities and operating speeds. Must be able to manipulate the tractor and equipment controls at the same time. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives may be paid but are not guaranteed. Up to 25% recruitment and retention incentive may be authorized for positions offering at least a guarantee of 10 hours per week. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
