OVERVIEW
The Clinician conducts mental health assessments for all unaccompanied youth to enhance the emotional well-being of each youth, identify and treat mental health symptoms and provide crisis intervention. This position provides clinical input to ensure that each youth is receiving the appropriate individual and group supervision. The Clinician reports to the Lead Clinician.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate intake interviews and diagnostic assessments with youth for placement and assure a well-coordinated admission process for each new resident according to program standards and policy;
- Provide ongoing individual and group counseling and develop individual service plans and 30 days reviews and updates;
- Participate in weekly meetings to formulate mental health treatment plans and on-going review of youth's treatment plan;
- Present a clear and clinically well formulated view of youth at case conferences which will assist in decision-making regarding treatment and permanency for the youth;
- Handle with behavioral incidents as needs and to ensure that each youth's immediate and on-going mental health needs are being met;
- Utilize clinical skills in daily interactions with youth on an individual, family or group setting and through team meetings guide and monitor the quality of services provided to youth during their stay;
- Hold weekly group therapy sessions with youth to address issues such as improving social skills, behavior management, and differences in culture and societal norms and to prepare youth for discharge;
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor;
