Job Summary
A Rip Saw Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a Rip Saw machine, ensuring precise cuts are made on wood materials according to specified dimensions, by adjusting saw settings, monitoring material flow, and performing routine maintenance to maintain production schedules and quality standards: essentially, they are skilled in cutting lumber lengthwise along the grain using a specialized saw machine.
Duties
- Set up the Rip Saw machine based on work orders, including adjusting blade height, fence positions, and feed rates.
- Load lumber unto the saw table, ensuring proper alignment for accurate cuts.
- Monitor machine operation, adjusting settings as needed to maintain consistent cut quality.
- Perform quality checks on cut lumber to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Inspect incoming lumber for defects and suitability for cutting.
- Sort and organize lumber based on size and quality.
- Stack and properly store ripped lumber after cutting.
- Perform routine cleaning and lubrication of the Rip Saw machine.
- Identify and report any machine malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Change saw blades as needed, ensuring proper tension and alignment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
- Verify Dimensions of cut pieces using measuring tools to ensure accuracy.
- Identify and address any cutting errors or inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with quality control team to maintain quality standards.
Requirements
- Basic Understanding of woodworking principles and lumber grading.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or work orders.
- Mechanical aptitude for machine setup and troubleshooting.
- attention to detail and ability to maintain precision cuts.
- Good hand-eye coordination and physical ability to handle lumber.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to Power Saw operation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour
