USGP has an opportunity for a PHARMACY TECH to provide services to our military service members, their families, and veterans within the PHARMACY DEPARTMENT AT BROOKE ARMY MEDICAL CENTER, TX.

- Schedule: 8-12hours with a 60 minute lunch:
Sun-Sat 0500-2200 (Outpatient)
Sun-Sat 0001-2400 (Inpatient)
Qualifications:
- Degree/Education: Graduate from a Pharmacy Technician program accredited by ASHP OR graduate of a technical, hospital, or retail-based program.
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Must have an active BLS through American Heart Association or military program
- Experience: 1 year of pharmacy technician experience post program graduation
- Board Certification: Certified by PTCB or Except / Possible waiver for those with CHPT
- Licensure/Registration: N/A
Job Duties:
To include but not limited too:
- Shall receive and review prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals, to include controlled drugs, on the pharmacy formulary.
- Shall assess patient’s response prescription or non-prescription drugs according to established agreements and MTF protocols.
- Shall coordinate with the prescriber of pharmaceuticals to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions as needed.
- Prepare replenishment orders, receive incoming stock, check for discrepancies, and rotate controlled and noncontrolled medication stock and supplies.
- Coordinate stock level changes as determined by increases or decreases in demand and seasonal requirements.
- Shall enter medication orders into an electronic healthcare system and review orders to identify allergies, interactions with other substances, and duplicate orders.
- Shall perform standard assays on finished products, verify ingredients, verify proper labeling, and ensure a pharmaceutically elegant product is dispensed to each patient.
- Shall operate, maintain, and assist other staff members on common and specialized instruments, to include pharmacy PYXIS machines, point of use medication cabinets, and other equipment.
